New SUV from Opel: Grandland X

Opel's new SUV has numerous top technologies on board, plenty of space for up to five enterprising passengers and their luggage or sports equipment. The 4.48-meter-long Grandland X flexes its muscles under its sporty dress, according to the manufacturer. Together with the short body overhangs, the result is crisp proportions. If desired, the compact also shows off its very own style with a two-tone paint finish. The Opel Grandland X will celebrate its world premiere at this year's IAA in Frankfurt/M. (September 14-24, 2017).

Top model in the X family
It follows its brothers Opel Crossland X and the best-selling Opel Mokka X, both of which are around 20 centimeters shorter. At the same time, the Grandland X expands Opel's extensive lineup in the particularly popular compact car segment from Astra to Zafira. "Into the booming vehicle class of compact SUVs now comes a real aggressor - our new Opel Grandland X. Its name stands for adventure, independence and generosity. With the Grandland X, Opel is launching a cool SUV with the "want to have" factor," says Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.

State of the art technologies
The portfolio of assistance and comfort features is first-class: Adaptive cruise control with pedestrian detection and automatic hazard braking, drowsiness alert, automatic parking assist, and 360-degree all-round camera are just a few highlights. AGR-certified ergonomic seats, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and the tailgate that opens with a kick of the foot ensure comfort. Drivers and passengers are optimally connected with the latest generation of IntelliLink systems and the personal online and service assistant OnStar, including new services such as hotel reservations and parking space searches. When it comes to lighting technology, Opel once again lives up to its claim to leadership and equips the Grandland X with stadium-bright driving lights thanks to adaptive full LED headlights (AFL LED light). Functions such as cornering lights, high beam assistant and automatic headlight range control illuminate the road according to the situation and environment.

One for each season
The new SUV offers safe driving pleasure in every season and on every surface. This is also due to the optional electronic traction control Grip Control, which in combination with M&S tires ensures the best grip in various driving situations. The driver can choose from five modes. The system then adjusts the distribution of power to the front wheels, allows slip if necessary, and changes the shift points in the automatic transmission as well as the characteristic curve of the accelerator pedal. This ensures optimum traction and stable handling, regardless of whether the Grandland X is driving on snow, mud, sand or wet roads.

Strong design with fine details
The front is dominated by the grille with the central Opel flash above the protective elements. The chrome wings emanating from the trademark extend outward to the slim headlights with the LED double-wing motif. The hood is defined by Opel's signature crease - an expression of Opel's design philosophy of sculptural styling and German precision. The combination of rough SUV charm and elegant lines continues in the side view. Sculpted wheel arches and protective cladding in the lower body area give the Grandland X real off-road appeal. In contrast, clean lines in the doors, including the further developed implied crescent, identify the new Grandland X as a member of the Opel family. "The new Grandland X is a modern SUV with exceptional presence and expressive design. It appears compact, sporty and muscular. With this sportiness and elegance, it will be an absolute eye-catcher in its segment," summarizes Opel Chief Designer Mark Adams.
